7th
Grade Art
The 7th grade art class will cover
several things though the year. They
will write a poem and paint a picture to illustrate their poem.
They will learn the rules of 2-point perspective.
They will learn about George Seurat and Pointillism.
They will do a color study that will not only introduce them to new color
schemes, themes, and theories, but will also review, thus reinforcing color
schemes, themes, and theories already familiar to them.
They will be given an opportunity to do linoleum block prints and to work
with clay. Many of the other lessons
that will be done will be dependent on the students themselves. I will ask for
input from the students at the beginning of the year from the students and will
will attempt to do their suggestions. Students quizzes and rubrics which will be
provided on all projects. All Jr.
High students are also asked to sign a contract at the beginning of the year
explaining the rules, discipline procedures, and expectations of the class.
Art Assignment Rubric
Each of the following categories may receive between 10 and 0 points. There are 100 points possible. The number at the bottom of the page is your number of earned points. That number is also your percentage grade for the project. The grading scale is as follows:
93%-100%

8th
Grade Art
The 8th grade art classes will cover
several things through the year. They
will learn the rules of 1-point perspective.
They will write a two page paper on “ What is Art to You”.
They will do a Batik project
on silk rings using cloth dyes. They
will study figure drawing using live models.
They will do self-portraits and facial enlargements.
They will do some sort of collage and work with clay.
They will also do a color study. As
a final attempt to keep them interested in art before they get to high school,
we will also view portions of a video and discuss the many jobs/careers that
might be associated with a degree in Art. The students will also be asked to
give input on projects they would like to do and we will make an attempt to do
those projects. We will have quizzes
over material that we cover. Every
lesson will be graded using a rubric. All Jr. High students are asked to sign a
